May 22, 2025 — GLOBAL — Today marks the official launch of the Proof of Work Alliance (PoWA), a groundbreaking global coalition dedicated to promoting and accelerating the sustainable growth, innovation, and global adoption of the Proof of Work (PoW) ecosystem. Founded by leading organizations in the blockchain space, the PoW Alliance represents the first credibly neutral, globally distributed organization focused exclusively on advancing PoW technology.
The Proof of Work Alliance brings together an unprecedented coalition of mining pools, blockchain projects, miners, service providers and hardware manufacturers committed to strengthening the PoW ecosystem through collaborative research, education, and advocacy. The Alliance embraces all PoW protocols—not just Bitcoin—and features balanced representation from various geographic regions.
The Alliance launches with 11 founding members representing major PoW blockchain protocols such as Bitcoin, Dogecoin, Ethereum Classic, and Fractal Bitcoin. Founding members include F2Pool, SpiderPool, ElphaPex Miner, Ipollo, Bitmars, Fortitude Mining, StandardHash, BIT Exchange, ETC Cooperative, Fractal Bitcoin, and Psy Protocol.
